Macromedia Flash is a versital and fun way to create web content. Annimation in Flash is relatively easy, as is the inclusion of various types of other media such as sounds or video clips, also a great benefit is the ability to design your flash content exactally the way you want the user to see it. Unlike pure html, with Macromedia Flash you don't have to consider different browser types, different browser widths (though you can let you movie change with screen size), or different type fonts. The Flash movie that you put out is in the form your viewer will see it, unless you choose otherwise. Another major benefit of Flash Movies is that the information behind them is not available to anyone who views the source code. Macromedia protects from reverse engineering, no one can just copy your movie source and plunk their own product names in for yours. I've been working with Flash for about two years, on and off, and I have found it to be one of the funniest ways to add interactivity and spark to a web site.
